Super High Roller Bowl and Other Major Poker Events: What You Need to Know

The Super High Roller Bowl tournament will be held from May 28 to 31, 2017, in Las Vegas with a $300,000 buy-in. The event, now in its third year, will be held as a warm-up to the World Series of Poker. The maximum number of players is set at 50, with 35 spots open to the public and 15 reserved by Aria. To secure a spot, participants had to deposit $30,000 by February 2, 2017. Daniel Negreanu was among the 54 participants who deposited but was not selected in the lottery. The European leg of the WSOP will take place in Rovaj in November, featuring 10 bracelets, including a $111,000 buy-in One Drop tournament. Leon Tsukernik confirmed that more than 30 players, including Phil Ivey, Fedor Holz, and Daniel Cates, have already deposited to participate. The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open attracted 1,312 participants, with Daniel Weinman winning $892,433. Bryan Rast won $772,800 in a $50,000 buy-in tournament at Aria, defeating Justin Bonomo in the heads-up. Pennsylvania's Mount Airy Casino was fined $25,000 for over-serving alcohol to a patron. PokerStars.FR will restrict play to French residents starting February 13, 2017. The tournament statistics site Macropoker shut down on February 1, 2017.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
