Shaun Deeb Leads WSOP POY Race with Impressive Performance
Shaun Deeb, the defending champion of the World Series of Poker Player of the Year award, is currently in second place with 1,340 points. He had a pair of second-place finishes at the 2026 WSOP Europe festival. Deeb is the only non-winner from the WSOP Europe festival in the top 10 of the POY standings.
Deeb won the 2025 WSOP POY award by edging out Benny Glaser and Michael Mizrachi. He has the most cashes of any player in the top 10 with six. The top 15 results for each player will count towards their point total in the WSOP POY race.
Mike Leah is in third place in the POY standings with 1,075 points. Fahredin Mustafov won his second career bracelet at WSOP Europe. The top three finishers in the 2026 WSOP POY race each win a $100,000 prize package to the 2027 WSOP Paradise festival.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
