Riot Games Limits League of Legends Replay Downloads to Combat Cheating
Riot Games has implemented restrictions on League of Legends replay downloads, limiting access to replays from matches players have participated in. The change was confirmed by Riot Games and has come into effect with an update released on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The restrictions were implemented to limit data usage in other games, including Valorant and Teamfight Tactics. Riot Games acknowledged that such hacking attempts created new cheats, bot farms and impacted in-game experiences, making its decision logical and necessary.
The change affects Teamfight Tactics and Valorant. The vast majority of League of Legends players won’t be impacted by this change. At the same time, the game developer confirmed that the change won’t result in bans, as it simply blocks unauthorized tools from interacting with the game client.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
