Ranno Sotla Makes History as First Estonian to Win WSOP Gold Bracelet
Ranno Sotla made history by becoming the first Estonian to win a gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online 2020. His victory in the Collosus tournament earned him a substantial prize of $596,000 and a package to the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) worth $15,000. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Estonian poker, as Sotla is the first from his country to achieve this feat.
Sotla's journey to this victory began with his first live tournament winnings of 14,000 euros at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona in 2013. Over the past seven years, he has accumulated winnings exceeding $600,000 from various live events. The Collosus tournament on WSOP Online was particularly notable, with a prize pool of $4,796,000 and 1,575 players making it into the money. Sotla's performance was exceptional, as he defeated 12,747 players to claim the top prize.
In the final stages of the tournament, Sotla faced off against Paraskevas Tsokaridis in a heated head-to-head battle. Despite Tsokaridis having a two-fold advantage at the start, Sotla dominated the first 15 hands, winning 12 of them. The decisive moment came in the final hand, where Sotla's pocket pair of kings secured his victory over Tsokaridis, who held A-9. This triumph solidified Sotla's status as a poker champion and brought pride to Estonia.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
