PokerStars Updates Loyalty Program and Boosts Marketing Spend

PokerStars has slightly changed its loyalty program, allowing players to choose a lower-level chest if they can't accumulate enough points. Previously, players had to fill half of the progress bar to do this. For example, if you opened 10 blue chests in a month and gained access to bronze chests, you can change it back to a blue chest if you see that you won't be able to accumulate enough points to open a chest.

Flutter Entertainment, the owner of PokerStars, has allocated an additional £50 million for marketing in the second half of 2020. This increase is part of a broader strategy to enhance the poker room's potential amidst intensified market competition. The company plans to focus on player-friendly changes to the loyalty program and expanding into new markets, as evidenced by their recent return to Slovenia and Slovakia.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
