PokerStars Launches Short Deck Poker: What You Need to Know
PokerStars introduced a new game called Short Deck, or 6+, on January 15, 2019. The game uses a 36-card deck, from sixes to aces. The game is popular in Macau and Asia, with large prize tournaments. Short Deck is more dynamic and closer to Pot-Limit Omaha.
The game has a different structure where all players pay large antes, and the button player pays the only blind. The game is available in the PokerStars lobby under the '6+' tab. The rake structure in Short Deck is similar to NLHE at lower limits but increases at higher limits.
Michalych124 and Gen DisColor were involved in notable hands during a Short Deck session. In one hand, Michalych124 won a significant pot with a top pair and gutshot. In another hand, Gen DisColor showed a strong hand with Ah Kh, while Michalych124 had As 8d.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
