Poker Rooms Policies: Where to Find Recreational Players and How to Join Their Tables

In 2013, partypoker introduced 'tables for lovers' to protect recreational players from regulars, but the project was quickly abandoned.

PokerOK allows up to 9 tables of the same limit and a maximum of 20 tables, with a minimum buy-in of 20 BB in hold'em and 10 BB in Omaha. The room is known for its controversial bans on players for 'bumhunting,' although determining if you are a bumhunter can be challenging.

PokerDom has an anonymous lobby, automatic seating, and a minimum buy-in of 30 BB, with a maximum of 150 BB. The room does not allow the use of auxiliary software, and even saving hand history is not permitted.

RedStar Poker allows up to 16 tables, with a minimum buy-in of 40 BB, and supports auxiliary software with some restrictions. The room has an anonymous lobby, and players must place a BB to see the nicknames of their opponents.

TigerGaming and other rooms in the Chico network limit the number of tables to 8 regular and 4 fast, with a minimum buy-in of 100 BB. The room supports auxiliary software, but dynamic HUD is not available for fast tables.

PokerKing and other rooms in the WPN network allow up to 24 regular tables and 5 fast tables, with a minimum buy-in of 40 BB. The room supports auxiliary software and has an anonymous lobby.

WPT Global limits the number of tables to 3 regular or 1 fast, with a maximum of 7 tables in MTT, and does not support auxiliary software. The room has an anonymous lobby, and players must place a BB to see the nicknames of their opponents.

PokerStars allows 4 regular tables and 4 fast poker tables, with no restrictions on player selection. The room supports auxiliary software and has a friendly policy towards regulars.

CoinPoker allows up to 12 tables with a minimum buy-in of 40 BB, and auxiliary software is officially prohibited but can be used with workarounds. The room has no restrictions on player selection, and nicknames are visible before joining the tables.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
