Poker Player Shares His Odesa Tournament Experience
The author had not been to Ukraine in 18 years and had never been to Odesa before. The author flew to Odesa on a small aircraft, which was uncomfortable and caused him frustration.
Upon arrival, the author visited the famous market Privoz and was impressed by the variety of fish. He met with Andryukha (SleepyTiger), who showed him around Odesa. They stopped at a restaurant on Deribasovskaya Street for a meal.
The author played in a 6-max tournament and was eliminated on the 4th level. He played against an aggressive player who often used a check-raise strategy. The author ended the first day of the main event with 44K chips. The author played in a football tournament on the beach, where his team won one game and lost another. The author played in a side event and reached the final table, eventually splitting the prize with Tolyk (Vintyara).

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
