Poker World Buzz: Entain's Furlough Dilemma, NFT Debate, and Hellmuth's Drama
Entain, the parent company of partypoker, is under scrutiny for not yet deciding whether to repay £62.9 million received from the UK government’s furlough scheme. The company furloughed 15,835 employees during the coronavirus pandemic, while seeing revenues of €3.562 billion in 2020.
On Twitter, Patrick Leonard sparked a discussion by asking what advice to give a friend who won $1 million in a poker tournament from a $10k bankroll. Ryan Laplante suggested stashing some money in low-risk long-term investments, while Branson Reimer proposed investing 95% in crypto. Leonard himself advised saving 700k, investing 100k in high-risk investments, 100k in bitcoin, 50k in bankroll, and 50k for fun.
The 2plus2 forum discussed whether famous poker moments could be sold as NFTs. Forumite TRUSTtheDRAWCESS asked if NFTs in poker will become a thing, sparking a debate among users. Meanwhile, Reddit poker fans were amused by Phil Hellmuth's tantrum during the HighStakesDuel against Daniel Negreanu. The Poker Brat tossed aside a box of tissues given to him by Negreanu and continued to curse his rival. In other news, 888 and Caesars have agreed on a 5-year extension to their partnership, with 888's Poker 8 client set to be implemented in WSOP’s online portals.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
