New Poker Movie and Legal Drama: What's Next in the Poker World?
The poker world is buzzing with excitement as a new movie, “Runner, runner,” is set to hit theaters in September 2013. This thriller, written by the screenwriters of “Rounders,” David Levien and Brian Koppelman, was filmed in Costa Rica and will follow the story of an online poker player entangled in a criminal plot involving tax havens.
Ben Affleck will take the lead role, with Justin Timberlake and Gemma Arterton joining the cast. Despite initial hopes for Leonardo diCaprio in the lead, Affleck's involvement adds a unique twist, given his known poker skills.
In other news, the WPT Grand Prix Paris 1B tournament saw 132 players on its second day, with Grégoire Boissenot leading the pack. Notable players included Faraz Jaka, Bertrand Grospellier, and Michael Mizrachi. Today, the tournament will welcome additional players, bringing the total to 143, with four of the top five being local players.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
