Poker Bots: The Present and Future of Online Poker
The discussion about poker bots has been ongoing since October 2010, when Full Tilt's security service confiscated winnings and closed accounts of some bot users.
Poker bot technology has advanced to the point where even simple bots can show a small profit and significant rakeback. Bots are increasingly playing at higher stakes, with some successfully competing at medium limits.
The speed of processors and memory handling doubles every two years, allowing bots to evolve and become more sophisticated. Bots can be programmed to mimic human behavior, making them harder to detect. The presence of bots could deter casual players from participating in online poker. OhMeinBott, a bot creator, noted that the rumors about bots can be more detrimental than the bots themselves. Stake Monster, a CardRunners trainer and popular poker blogger, suggested that the only protection against undetectable bots is legal action.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
