Partypoker, under its parent company Entain, reported a remarkable 50% growth in 2020. This surge was largely attributed to an increased focus on recreational players and targeted marketing efforts. The online gambling industry, including partypoker, benefited significantly from the lockdowns, which drove high traffic figures.

Chris Moneymaker, the poker icon who won the WSOP Main Event in 2003, has joined Above the Felt Entertainment. This marketing agency aims to promote poker within the business world. Moneymaker, along with other poker professionals like Jamie Kerstetter, Matt Berkey, and Darren Elias, will work with Above the Felt to expand poker’s reach to companies around the world. Moneymaker expressed his excitement about the project, stating that the poker community has a lot to offer and he is thrilled to be part of this initiative.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. has sold its remaining properties in Las Vegas and will now concentrate on the Asian market, particularly in Macau. The company will change its name to Sands Corp. to reflect this new direction. This shift was already planned before the passing of Sheldon Adelson, the long-time CEO, who had been lobbying for legalized brick-and-mortar gambling in Texas. The World Poker Tour (WPT) will complete the three outstanding events that were postponed in 2020. The WPT Gardens Poker Championship, which was the longest-running poker tournament in history, finished on Sunday night after 422 days. The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open and WPT L.A. Poker Classic will conclude between May 16-18 in Las Vegas.
