NSW Casinos Fined for Underage Gambling: Crown Sydney and The Star Sydney Penalized
The NSW Independent Casino Commission has imposed significant fines on two prominent casinos for breaches related to underage gambling. Crown Sydney was fined AU$1.75 million, while The Star Sydney received a penalty of AU$500,000.
An investigation revealed that a 16-year-old used a fake ID to gain access to both casinos and gamble on multiple occasions. The minor visited the two casinos nearly two dozen times during the period from April through August 2025. At Crown Sydney, the minor gambled on 19 separate occasions and even obtained silver membership status, while also consuming complimentary alcoholic beverages. The same 16-year-old gambled at The Star Sydney on three separate occasions.
The NSW regulatory agency will continue to monitor the compliance of casinos to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
