Nate Silver Out at FiveThirtyEight Amid Disney Layoffs
Nate Silver, founder of FiveThirtyEight, has been let go from the firm amid Disney's ongoing layoffs. Silver's contract will not be renewed as part of the second round of cuts at ESPN's parent company.
Despite ABC News retaining FiveThirtyEight, significant changes to the site and brand are expected. Silver rose to fame in 2008 when he correctly predicted the outcome of all 50 states during the presidential election.
In 2016, Silver's polling model gave Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump a 30% chance of beating out heavily favoured Democrat Hillary Clinton. Silver has earned over $600,000 in live tournament earnings, according to Hendon Mob.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
