In multi-table tournaments (MTTs), players cannot choose their table as in cash games, but they can select the tournaments themselves. The presence of roulette, slot machines, and sports betting increases the expected value in both tournaments and cash games. In online poker, rooms with casino games and sports betting attract more novices.
In live poker, a reliable indicator of a good field is whether online poker is legal in the country. For example, the WSOP Paradise on the Bahamas has a professional field because locals are not allowed to play in casinos. Satellites are designed for players aiming to enter tournaments with high buy-ins or strong compositions. The main tournament of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) has a relatively weak average table due to the large number of satellite qualifiers.
