Early Life and Education

Born in Toronto, Mo moved to Chicago as a baby and spent his early years in Rogers Park. He attended a state school from first to eighth grade, where he was the top student in his class. His mother, despite teachers' recommendations, did not allow him to skip grades, a decision that proved beneficial when the family moved to a Jewish suburb.

In his new school, Mo initially struggled but quickly caught up, thanks to his photographic memory and the support of his teachers. His mother worked two jobs to support the family, and Mo was the first in his family born in America. This responsibility fueled his determination to succeed. Mo's upbringing was deeply influenced by his Muslim faith, although he was not very religious. Mo attended the University of Illinois, where he had already accumulated 50 credits before starting. He studied economics and finance but turned down a job offer to pursue advanced mathematics and physics.
