Marcus Gonsalves Breaks 20-Year Streak to Win First WSOP Bracelet
Marcus Gonsalves, a seasoned poker player with over 20 years of experience, has finally achieved a milestone by winning his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. Gonsalves secured the victory in the $5,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em tournament, earning him $979,655 and 1,920 Card Player Player of the Year points.
This win marks a significant achievement for Gonsalves, who has had a notable career in poker but had never won a WSOP bracelet until now. His previous best live result was winning the 2020 WPT Gardens Poker Championship, which earned him $554,495. The $5,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em tournament had 1,402 entrants and a prize pool of $6,449,200.
Gonsalves held the chip lead overnight and maintained it throughout the final day, eliminating key players like Josh Boulton, Dominykas Mikolaitis, and Daniel Rezaei. Xiaoyao Ma finished in second place, earning $653,037 and 1,600 POY points. Jeremy Izquierdo finished in third place, earning $460,256 and 1,280 POY points.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
