Jackson Jaguars Ex-Employee's Lawsuit Against FanDuel Sent to Arbitration

A federal judge has ordered the case to be resolved through an arbitrator, as pointed out by FanDuel’s terms and conditions.

The NFL team’s former finance director, Amit Patel, was sentenced to six and a half years in a federal prison in March 2024. Patel ended up embezzling more than $22m from his team and spent the money to fuel his gambling habit between 2018 and 2023.

Patel filed a lawsuit of his own against the sportsbook, seeking $250m in damages, and claiming that FanDuel had preyed on his vulnerability. Patel is also facing a counter-lawsuit by his former employer, seeking $66.6m.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
