Isildur1's 30-Hour Poker Marathon: Epic Battles and Million-Dollar Losses
Victor Blom, known as Isildur1, embarked on a 30-hour poker marathon, facing off against some of the world's top players. The session, which started with matches against Alex 'IReadYrSoul' Millar and Douglas 'WCGRider' Polk, saw Blom lose $611,000 in No-Limit Hold'em.
Blom's fortunes changed when he switched to Omaha Hi-Lo, winning $320,000 against Kyle 'KPR16' Ray. He followed this up with a $118,000 win in Pot-Limit Omaha against Ben Tollerene. Blom then returned to No-Limit Hold'em, winning $75,000 against Polk in a $500/$1,000 CAP match. However, he lost $456,000 to Polk in a subsequent $400/$800 No-Limit Hold'em match.
Blom's marathon continued with a victory in 2-7 Triple Draw, winning almost $300,000 against Gus Hansen, ragen70, and KagomeKagome. He also won $79,000 in Omaha Hi-Lo, primarily against Patrick Antonius, and $182,000 against Sankler in a $500/$1,000 CAP No-Limit Hold'em match. Despite these wins, Blom's most significant battle was against Polk, where he won $280,000 in a $400/$800 No-Limit Hold'em match, despite losing a big pot. The marathon ended with Polk's losses totaling $1.2 million. The next day, Polk demanded a rematch, which Blom agreed to after Polk rested. In the rematch, Polk won $300,575.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
