High-Stakes Poker Player Loses $500,000 in Affiliate Scam
A high-stakes poker player, known as 9NaturalNine9, reported that an affiliate changed his password and withdrew $500,000 from his GG Poker account.
The player initially posted about the incident on the GGPoker subreddit, expressing frustration with GGPoker's response. The player stated that while he was in the hospital, his affiliate, cards88, changed his password and withdrew the funds. GGPoker's support team responded that no suspicious activity was detected except for the actions of the affiliate.
The player used the affiliate service cards88 for additional rakeback. The player's account was registered directly on GGPoker with the affiliate code cards88. The affiliate cards88 had administrative rights to change passwords and withdraw funds from accounts registered with their promo code. The player reported the incident to poker regulators and sought public attention. The player's posts on forums and social media eventually led to the return of the full amount. The main affiliate of cards88 confirmed that the funds were returned and that neither GGPoker nor cards88 were directly at fault. The player expressed dissatisfaction with GGPoker's handling of the situation, noting that public pressure was necessary to resolve the issue.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
