High-Stakes Poker: Dwan in Morocco, Cates and Antonius Clash
Tom Dwan's recent trip to Morocco has left Daniel Cates waiting for their high-stakes challenge to resume. Cates took to Twitter to express his anticipation, writing, «До сих пор без понятия, когда продолжится Вызов Durrrr'a =(». While waiting, Cates engaged in a high-stakes match against Patrik Antonius.
Over 108 hands of no-limit hold'em with blinds at $500/$1,000, Antonius emerged victorious, winning $66,000 from Cates. This match included three of the weekend's largest pots, with Antonius's Ax Qx holding up against Cates's Kx Qx in a significant showdown. Antonius's win was part of a larger trend, as he played 207 hands last week, losing $14,304 overall.
Gus Hansen, meanwhile, had a successful week, playing 4,600 hands and winning around $700,000. This victory helped Hansen reduce his October losses to $850,000 over 13,800 hands, moving him to the second spot on the list of October's biggest losers. Ilari Sahamies remains at the top, having lost $1,650,000 over 6,400 hands. Despite his recent travels, Tom Dwan still holds the largest October win at $1,053,530, primarily from a single session against Sahamies. Andreas 'Skjervoy' Torbergsen secured the second spot in October's earnings, winning $745,325 over 977 hands.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
