Haralabos Voulgaris Shares Insights on Managing a Football Club and Sports Betting
Haralabos Voulgaris, the owner of CD Castellón, a third-division Spanish football club, shared his experiences managing the team and his insights into sports betting. Currently, the club is in second place in its group, with four teams from each group advancing to the second division.
Voulgaris, who previously worked for the Dallas Mavericks in a role involving statistical analysis, has a unique perspective on sports betting. He mentioned that having a dog makes you more attractive to others, a surprising life hack he picked up during his time managing the football club.
During his sports betting career, Voulgaris used proxy players to manage liquidity issues. He offered them two options: a freeroll with a 25% share or a 50% profit share, where they also took on the risk of a downswing. This strategy allowed him to continue betting despite the challenges of liquidity management.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
