Golden Nugget opens a new poker room in downtown Las Vegas
Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas opened a new poker room, and the official opening and ribbon cutting are scheduled for July 28. It remains the only casino in downtown Las Vegas with a poker room.
The new room is located in the Rush Tower and contains nine tables, which is fewer than the previous thirteen. The tables are equipped with built-in chargers for mobile devices, and players are provided with food and beverage service right at the tables via mobile carts. The room is decorated in a modern style with black, brown, and orange colors, and the tables are spaced with ample legroom and screens for viewing sports broadcasts.
Golden Nugget offers daily low-stakes cash games and the Grand Poker Series, which is currently underway. The casino also offers a $100,000 bad beat jackpot, which was won on Tuesday. At the opening ceremony, guests are treated to snacks, champagne, and commemorative gift packages. The casino's owners, Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta, recently began the process of acquiring Caesars Entertainment. Additionally, poker rooms have recently opened at Green Valley Ranch Resort (Henderson), The Palms Casino, Red Hawk Resort Casino (Sacramento), FireKeepers Casino (Michigan), Foxwoods Casino (Connecticut), and Hard Rock Casino (Bristol, Virginia).

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
