GGPoker Fined £673,000 by UKGC for Anti-Money Laundering Failings
GGPoker, the market-leading online poker site, has been fined £672,829 by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) for anti-money laundering and social responsibility failings. The UKGC found that GGPoker failed to have appropriate policies, procedures, and controls in place to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
The commission also noted that GGPoker failed to identify customers who may be at risk of experiencing harms associated with gambling. Additionally, GGPoker failed to interact with customers who may be at risk of experiencing harms associated with gambling. Among the social responsibility failings, GGPoker sent marketing emails to 125 self-excluded customers.
This is not the first time the UKGC has levied fines against gambling operators this year. Betway was recently fined £400,000 for allowing its logo to be displayed on a Premier League club’s children’s page. Sky Betting and Gaming was fined £1.17 million for sending a Sky Vegas advertising email campaign to susceptible clients. BetVictor was fined £2 million for fairness, money laundering, and social responsibility failures.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
