FullTilt Poker Aims to Break World Record with 50,000 Players
FullTilt Poker is making a bold move to set a new world record by hosting an online poker tournament with an unprecedented 50,000 participants. This ambitious event is part of the poker room's five-year anniversary celebrations.
The tournament, dubbed "The Record Breaker," will run from July 14 to July 19, 2009. With a buy-in of just $5, the guaranteed prize pool is set at an impressive $500,000. FullTilt Poker will contribute an additional $250,000 to the prize pool, ensuring that even if the maximum number of participants is reached, the total prize pool will be $500,000.
To put this into perspective, the current record for the most players in an online poker tournament is held by PokerStars, which had 35,000 participants in a tournament with an $11 buy-in on December 28, 2008. The first-place prize in The Record Breaker tournament will be a substantial $45,000, making it an exciting opportunity for poker enthusiasts worldwide.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
