Enrique Alejo Proposes Simplifying Online Gaming Taxation in Spain
Enrique Alejo, Director General of Ordenación del Juego, has proposed a simplified approach to online gaming taxation in Spain. In his recent statements to Opergame, Alejo suggests that the most straightforward method is for players to declare only their real gains, subtracting their expenses from their annual income.
Under the current legislation, gaming losses cannot be deducted, which means players might have to pay taxes even if they lose money. Alejo's proposal aims to make the taxation process more just and logical, especially since all online gaming movements are recorded.
The development of the regulatory framework will be progressive, based on initial experiences. Alejo emphasizes that the administration is prepared for the legal operation of online gaming from June 1st, with a four-month period for operators to certify their systems and an additional two months for the administration to grant final licenses.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
