Doyle Brunson Loses $279,000 Pot with Pocket Aces on High Stakes Poker
Legendary poker player Doyle Brunson, a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, recently suffered a significant loss on the popular poker show High Stakes Poker. Brunson lost a massive pot of $279,000 despite holding a pair of aces, which had an 80% chance of winning.
The unfortunate loss occurred in a game against Krish Menon, Jennifer Tilly, and Garrett Adelstein. Brunson raised pre-flop to $10,800 and was called by Jennifer Tilly with a pair of twos and Garrett Adelstein with a pair of sixes. Krish Menon also called with Q♠-J♣.
The flop revealed 3♠-Q♥-K♦. Brunson made a bet of $50,000, and Tilly folded. Krish Menon went all-in, and Adelstein folded. Brunson called, and the board was revealed twice. The turn card was Q♣, giving Menon three of a kind, and the river card was 8♦, securing his win.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
