David Peters Wins High Roller Event at US Poker Open
David Peters has been making substantial earnings in both online and live poker tournaments recently. His latest victory came at the US Poker Open, where he won the high roller event with a buy-in of $10,000.
The tournament attracted 99 entries, the highest in its history, resulting in a prize pool of $990,000. Peters' victory earned him $217,800. Jared Jeffery finished as the runner-up, earning $158,400. Most of the final table players were from the USA, with the exception of Croatian Ivan Zufic. Alex Foxen finished in fifth place, earning $79,200.
In the heads-up phase, Peters had a significant advantage over Jeffery. However, their stacks became almost equal. In a crucial pre-final hand, Peters limped with 4♦-3♥, and Jeffery checked with 8♥-4♠. The flop was J♣-4♣-3♣, giving Peters two pairs. Jeffery checked, and the turn brought 4♥, improving Peters to a full house while Jeffery had a trip. Jeffery checked the turn, and Peters made a large bet. Jeffery called the overbet on the river 9♠, leaving him with 10 BB. In the final hand, Peters went all-in with A♥-8♣, and Jeffery called with K♠-2♣. Peters held his ground, catching a pair of eights, and secured his championship.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
