Daniel Negreanu Faces Extortion Threats During WSOP
Daniel Negreanu, known for his daily vlogs during the World Series of Poker (WSOP), has recently faced a series of disturbing threats. The six-time bracelet winner received extortion threats via voicemails from an unknown individual. The caller accused Negreanu of abandoning his “family” to live the high life in Vegas, mentioning Lake Havasu, Arizona, a place Negreanu had never been to and has no family in.
Negreanu shared the disturbing messages on his Day 9 vlog, where he read out a text message threatening to expose his alleged actions. The text message stated, “I’m going to go public with what you did to your family in Lake Havasu. That was fucked – I know your little secret; the whole world is going to know!” The caller also sent a text to Phil Hellmuth, offering to expose Negreanu for money.
The caller attempted to extort money from Negreanu by threatening to go public with false claims about his family. Negreanu considered hiring a bodyguard after receiving these threats, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. Despite the disturbing nature of the threats, Negreanu remains focused on his WSOP campaign, hoping for a better outcome in the upcoming events.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
