ClubWPT Gold Transforms into a Poker Training Site with Upswing Poker Acquisition
ClubWPT Gold, a prominent player in the sweepstakes poker scene in the US, has undergone a significant transformation. The platform has revamped its business model to include poker training, a move that comes after acquiring Upswing Poker, a leading poker training platform founded by Doug Polk.
With this acquisition, ClubWPT Gold has introduced a Hand Analysis tool. This tool allows players to have any hand they played analyzed by a GTO solver. Hand Analysis credits, which can be purchased by players for real money, have replaced Gold Coins, which are no longer available on the platform. Players will be awarded ‘Chips’ (formerly Sweeps Coins) when purchasing Hand Analysis credits, and these Chips can be used to participate in tournament and ring games, as well as exchanged for real money prizes.
This change in business model is likely a response to the evolving legal climate in the US regarding sweepstakes poker. Several states have already banned the traditional dual currency model, and California, with its population of 40 million, is on the verge of doing the same. This new approach may allow ClubWPT Gold to continue operating even in jurisdictions that don’t allow the traditional model.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
