Bally's Plans Slot Machines at Chicago Airports to Boost Revenue

Bally's Corporation is planning to operate slot lounges at both O'Hare and Midway airports in Chicago. The company expects each slot lounge to generate approximately $5 million in gaming and admission taxes, which would go directly to the city.

The City's Revenue Needs

The city of Chicago is looking for additional tax revenue from the gaming sector to balance its budget. The city council recently approved a $16.6 billion budget that lifted the ban on video gambling machines at various establishments. This move is part of a broader effort to increase gaming tax revenue.

Bally's Senior Vice President for Corporate Development Christopher Jewett stated that Bally's might not have proceeded with the casino project if they had known about the potential legalization of VGTs. Nevada is the only state in the U.S. that currently has slot machines at airports.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
