Austrian Poker Enthusiasts Attempt 135-Hour Marathon
A group of seven Austrian poker enthusiasts attempted to break the world record for the longest poker game, aiming to play for 135 hours. The team consisted of Stefan Raichl, Nuran Karasu, Jens Tölle, Max Krükl, Julia Deutsch, Erich Grünwald, Thomas Wagermaier, and Rudolf Teichmann. The attempt took place at the Kufsteinerhof hotel in Kufstein, Tyrol, Austria, starting on June 19th at 9 AM local time.
The team was allowed a five-minute break every hour, which could be accumulated. The team's goal was to surpass the previous record of 115 hours set by Phil Laak. However, they had to adjust their plans after Phil Laak's record, aiming for at least 120 hours. The team had a doctor on standby to monitor the health of the participants.
Thomas Wagermaier dropped out after 72 hours, and Julia Deutsch after 107 hours. Erich Grünwald and Rudolf Teichmann lasted 115 hours, matching Phil Laak's record. Stefan Raichl, Nuran Karasu, and Jens Tölle were the final three remaining players. The marathon ended exactly at the 135-hour mark on June 24th. The team played for honor, not for money.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
