Alexander Kostritsyn Defeats Isildur1 in High-Stakes Poker Tournament

Alexander Kostritsyn made history by defeating Isildur1 in a high-stakes pot-limit Omaha tournament on FullTilt. The tournament had a buy-in of $25,000+0 and attracted 35 players, including three Russians. Kostritsyn's victory over Isildur1 was in the quarter-finals.

Kostritsyn initially played passively against Isildur1, avoiding large pots and rarely re-raising pre-flop. His strategy worked initially, but Isildur1's luck turned around in the 14th hand. Kostritsyn won a significant pot in the 29th hand with a full house against Isildur1's top pair. However, in the 32nd hand, Isildur1 won a large pot with a nut straight against Kostritsyn's pair and flush draw, dropping Kostritsyn's stack to 2,100.

Kostritsyn managed to stay in the match with a series of small ball poker hands. In the 94th hand, he won a significant pot with a straight against Isildur1's top pair, growing his stack to nearly 5,000. In the 98th hand, Kostritsyn lost a significant pot, leaving him with just over 2,000 chips. However, in the 104th hand, he took the lead with a strong hand against Isildur1. Kostritsyn won another significant pot in the 116th hand with a nut straight, growing his stack to over 6,000. Despite his strong performance, Kostritsyn lost in the semi-finals to Browndog19 (Andrew Brown), receiving $131,250 for his finish. Browndog19 went on to win the tournament, defeating Ugotabanana in the final. Ugotabanana received $218,750 for his second-place finish, while Kostritsyn and BigBlueBonzzzai shared third place.
