Alberta's iGaming Kicks Off with 3.2 Million Geolocation Checks
GeoComply has recorded an impressive 3.2 million geolocation checks in the first week of regulated iGaming in Alberta. The company, which specializes in providing geolocation services, noted that Albertans were eager to expand their range of regulated, safe betting options.
The Edmonton and Calgary regions drove the traffic in the first 72 hours of iGaming in Alberta. The FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina triggered 53,000 geolocation checks on July 19, highlighting the significant impact of major sporting events on betting activity.
More than 100,000 Albertans signed up through GeoComply-enabled platforms and engaged with licensed operators in the first week. The market launched with 22 gambling operators on July 13, with 50 betting operators now registered with the Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
