2023 WSOP: Daniel Weinman's Win and Idan The One's Heartbreak
The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) concluded with emotional highs and lows for participants. The event, held in Las Vegas, brought together poker players from around the world, each with dreams of victory or facing the harsh reality of defeat.
One of the most pivotal hands occurred during the WSOP Main Event. Daniel Weinman, who ultimately won the tournament, faced a critical decision. Josh Payne raised with pocket kings, and Jose Aguilera three-betted with queens. Weinman, holding jacks in the small blind, had to decide his next move. After careful consideration, Weinman went all-in, and both opponents followed suit. The flop was 4s Ah 7h, missing all players. The turn, however, revealed a jack, giving Weinman a 90% chance of winning. The river was a complete miss, securing Weinman's victory and setting the stage for his tournament win.
Another notable moment involved Idan The One, a young Israeli player. Idan found himself in a challenging situation twice during the Main Event. Both times, he held pocket aces against pocket kings preflop, only to lose both hands. This double loss highlighted the unpredictable nature of poker and the emotional rollercoaster players experience during high-stakes tournaments.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
