Flop in poker
Definition
The first three community cards, dealt together after the first betting round.
Before the flop the dealer burns one card and then turns three cards face up. The flop is when most of the information arrives: after it you can see five of the seven cards that make your final hand.
A second betting round follows. Many decisions about continuation bets, draws and pot control are made here.
Example
With K♦K♣ in hand, a flop of K♠7♥2♣ gives you a set of kings.
